West Ham fans react as club is linked with Marouane Fellaini move

According to reports by The Mirror on April 21, West Ham United are one of six clubs interested in signing Manchester United contract rebel Marouane Fellaini this summer, and Irons fans have been quick to have their say on the rumour.

The Mirror says that the Belgium international, who has been capped 80 times by his country, has told the Red Devils of his intentions to leave when his deal expires at the end of the season as he looks for one final big pay day in his career, despite the fact that Jose Mourinho wants him to stay.

Hammers boss David Moyes will already be targeting new players despite the fact that his team aren’t safe from relegation yet, and he certainly knows the 30-year-old well having signed him and managed him during his time in charge at Everton and then United.

West Ham supporters, who have also urged the club to sign the controversial Mario Balotelli this summer, took to social media to give their thoughts on the story, and while one said “surprise, surprise”, someone else labelled him as “another Moyes reject”.

Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…

HYS: Should Liverpool swoop for Tarkowski after impressive season?

Liverpool’s run to the final of the Champions League has underlined just how close they are to being genuine Premier League title contenders.

An elite goalkeeper, another centre half and potentially a disciplined defensive midfielder are the three main ingredients that Jurgen Klopp needs in order to transform his side into a real threat to Manchester City.

Yet, with Virgil van Dijk’s bumper transfer fee and Naby Keita’s impending arrival, the Reds may not have a huge amount of cash to compete with the big boys – which has been the state of affairs for quite some years now.

That may require the German to get creative with his transfer targets and one man who may be available for considerably less than van Dijk was procured for is James Tarkowski of Burnley.

The one-cap England international is valued at just £5.4m by Transfermarkt and has enjoyed a mightily impressive campaign at Turf Moor.

So, we’re asking you; should Liverpool swoop for Tarkowski on the back of his performances after stepping out of Michael Keane’s shadow? Let us know by voting in the poll below and keep your eyes peeled for the results…

HYS: Do West Ham need to sign Miguel Layun?

According to Marca, West Ham are lining up a summer swoop for Miguel Layun, but do they need the Mexican full back?

It’s been a pretty long season for West Ham fans, but the Hammers secured their safety on Saturday with a 2-0 win at Leicester.

Beyond the obvious relief of avoiding the drop, fans can now look towards the summer transfer window and next season.

While the spine of the team is an obvious concern to most fans, reports suggest they are lining up a move for Layun, who can play in either full back position.

[ad_pod ]

The 29 year-old Mexican international is a Porto player, but has been on loan at Sevilla since January, making 1.8 tackles per game with the Spanish club.

The report from Marca claims the Hammers are already speaking to his agents, but while the international can certainly boast experience and versatility, it seems an odd move to make.

Aaron Cresswell has taken a lot of stick from fans in recent weeks, but despite his defensive frailties he is still a good player, and leads the team in assists this season despite spending plenty of time at centre back.

Arthur Masuaku is best when he’s attacking, but he can certainly perform at left back, and the right manager and system might just turn the Frenchman into a top full back.

Of course there is the argument that Layun could play on the right side for the Hammers, but with the owners unlikely to splash out all over the pitch, they would be much better served spending their money on the positions in dire need of strengthening, like goalkeeper and centre midfield.

So, West Ham fans, would you back a summer move for Miguel Layun? Let us know by voting in the poll below…

Newcastle will prove they can match Benitez’s ambitions by signing Yacine Brahimi

According to Portuguese media outlet A Bola, Newcastle United have joined Premier League rivals Everton and Wolverhampton Wanderers in the race to sign FC Porto attacker Yacine Brahimi this summer.

What’s the word, then?

Well, A Bola says that the left winger is attracting attention from English clubs as he has just one year remaining on his contract, following another impressive campaign for the Portuguese giants as they won the top flight title.

A Bola says that the 28-year-old has a release clause in his current deal set at €60m (£53m), but they are likely to accept a lower offer for him this summer given they could lose him for nothing if 2019 unless he chooses to extend his stay with them.

Meanwhile, Magpies manager Rafa Benitez may well be looking to sign a new left-sided attacker this summer with Chelsea loanee Kenedy returning to Stamford Bridge following a successful loan spell, and with it being unclear whether he could return to St James’ Park or not.

How did Brahimi do this season?

The Algeria international impressed and was influential in Porto’s title win – the first time the 28-year-old had won a league championship during his career.

The wide man scored 12 goals and provided a further 10 assists in 49 appearances in all competitions for his team, and according to WhoScored.com he successfully completed 203 of the 305 dribbles he attempted in 40 outings in Liga NOS and the Champions League.

Would he be a good signing for Newcastle?

He certainly would be, and it would be one that would excite the fans – the majority of which don’t want to sign a £4.5m-rated Championship attacker they adored 12 months ago – and take the club to the next level to prove to Benitez that his ambitions can be matched by staying at St James’ Park.

Brahimi would bring a much-needed goal threat and some creativity from wide areas for the Magpies as they look to push on and progress next term, and while he may be more experienced he would be a huge upgrade on fans’ favourite Kenedy in the left wing position.

HYS: Who should Arsenal sign to start new era of success post-Wenger?

Arsenal have made the first step towards building a new era of success at the Emirates with the long-overdue removal of Arsene Wenger, but more action is required.

A new man in the hotseat – and Mikel Arteta is the current favourite – is a good start but surgery to the playing staff, who have become complacent and too used to the ideas of one man, is also required in order to transform the club’s fortunes and change the opinions of a restless fanbase who have become too accustomed to the same old failings.

With it being World Cup year and the transfer window closing earlier than ever before – not to mention many elite clubs looking to close the gap on Manchester City – it looks tougher than ever to get the business done to strengthen.

There are no shortage of names being banded around and we’ve compiled a list of 24 targets – including Leon Bailey, valued at £40.5m by Transfermarkt, Arsenal may hope to get over the line in a busy summer and asked you to choose the ones you would most like to see.

Let us know by up and down voting below who you would like to see at the Emirates by the start of next season…

Revealed: Half of West Ham fans want a shock swoop for Cazorla

West Ham fans are completely split on a shock summer swoop for Santi Cazorla, after the Arsenal midfielder announced he will leave North London this summer.

Arsenal fans were devastated when Cazorla announced he would leave the Gunners this summer, opting not to renew his contract when it expires at the end of June.

The 33 year-old’s career has been devastated by injuries in recent seasons, only just returning to training earlier this year.

However, there aren’t many players with the technique and ability of the little Spaniard, and any Arsenal fan will tell you exactly how gifted he is.

Cazorla, who has 25 goals and 35 assists in his Premier League career, can dictate the tempo of a match all by himself, something Manuel Pellegrini could love in East London next season.

Of course, his injury troubles and age mean he couldn’t be relied upon as the first option, but is there really anything to lose when he’s available on a free transfer?

Just over half of the fans obviously think so, as 52 per cent said they would avoid the classy but injury-prone playmaker, and you can find the full poll results down below…

Yacine Brahimi is an exciting prospect for Newcastle fans

Porto have said they are open to offers for Newcastle target Yacine Brahimi, according to Portuguese website A Bola.

What’s the story?

Newcastle have been interested in the Algerian wide-man for a number of months following his impressive performances in the Primeira Liga.

Having scored nine goals and made nine assists from the left wing this season, the 28-year-old has attracted interest from a host of clubs, including West Ham.

A Bola report that the tricky winger has a release clause of £53million but it is believed a fee of £26million will be enough to secure the player.

Is he worth it?

Newcastle fans love a player who runs directly at defenders with pace and that is exactly what Brahimi is all about.

Averaging over five dribbles per game this season, he is an exciting player that gets fans off their seats and normally provides a good end product.

He may not come cheap but this player is in the prime of his career and Newcastle will do very well to see off their rivals to his signature.

REVEALED: What footballer’s hairstyle would you most like to replicate?

In promotion of the Men Ultra range and as part of their #JUSTWATCHME campaign, Head & Shoulders carried out a global survey across 8 nations, providing some interesting results on the decade defining football haircuts through the ages.

“Treating their scalps as blank canvases, footballers have long given their hairstylists full creative license in crafting artistic masterpieces that make statements, set trends and that grab the headlines when gracing football’s biggest stages” said football hairstylist Landry Agres.

The World Cup offers a stage where the planet’s most creative footballing talent can go head to head in pursuit of the most prestigious trophy in international football.

In a global survey of football fans across eight nations facilitated by Head & Shoulders, it has been revealed that Neymar Jr’s Bleached Barnet is the hairstyle that UK pollsters would most like to replicate.

Neymar’s bleached blonde locks have been subject to intense discussion on social media. Former United icon, Eric Cantona, had his say posting a light hearted picture where the Frenchman dons spaghetti on his head in homage to the Brazilian play-maker’s mop.

Cantona uploaded the image onto his Instagram account and puts his acting skills to the test holding a deadpan expression as he stares directly at the camera with spaghetti on his head.

He posted the photo the caption: “Neymar style. Spaghetti al dente!”

The picture was loved on social media, gaining hundreds of likes.

Despite the popularity of Neymar’s hairstyle in the polls, his new look was brutally trolled on social media.

The same poll revealed that Belgium’s Radja Nainggolan has the unwanted title of having the hairstyle that UK pollsters would least like to replicate.

The fiery central midfielder and his Mohawk were both left out of Roberto Martinez’s World Cup squad.

Revealed: Majority of Everton fans would back swoop for Mexico’s Gallardo

Vibrant and dynamic partnerships can have an intrinsic impact on any team, and Everton fans who watched Leighton Baines and Steven Pienaar regularly link up down the left flank during their time together at Goodison Park will be more than aware of that.

Largely due to the Marcel Brands connection, the Toffees have been linked with PSV’s Hirving Lozano, who looks set to be remembered as one of the World Cup’s breakthrough stars after scoring the goal that saw Mexico unexpectedly beat Germany in the opening round of Group Stage clashes.

But that shock victory owed much to the defender fielded behind Lozano as well, 22-year-old Jesus Gallardo, who was excellent at left-back with seven clearances and eight interceptions to his name.

Is this the best World Cup ever? Give us your thoughts here and win any World Cup shirt of your choice.

With that in mind, we asked Everton fans whether the club’s new Director of Football should be looking to sign Gallardo too – an acquisition that could actually help Lozano settle quickly in England because of that extra familiarity.

And according to our poll, 79% of Everton fans would be in favour of a summer swoop. Brands does face a bit of a job to get a deal over the line though; Gallardo’s already agreed to sign for Monterrey, so he’ll have to convince the Mexican club to sell without the young full-back actually making an appearance for them.

Nonetheless, if Brands can get it done he could prove to be an incredibly smart signing for the Toffees.

Gerrard must ensure he brings African forward to Ibrox ahead of Rangers’ title challenge

The Rangers fans in and around the Transfer Tavern are extremely excited with the future of their club in the hands of Steven Gerrard and feel that should this appointment be successful, silverware will soon be back at Ibrox.

The ex-England star will take up his first professional management role with the Gers as he hopes to lead them to glory once again. Already Rangers have been busy in the transfer market and that has to continue should they be in with a chance of matching Celtic’s talent ahead of the new season. Our punters would love to see a goalscorer join Ibrox and someone that could be in the form of Umar Sadiq, who is valued at £1.6 million on Transfermarkt.

The 21-year-old has recently been out on loan with Dutch outfit NAC Breda, where he played in 12 Eredivise games, scoring 5 goals and setting up 3 assists. That’s an impressive record for a player just joining a new league and upon his return to parent club Roma this summer, our punters believe Gerrard should take a punt and offer whatever it takes to bring him to Scotland.

Nigerian star Sadiq has a lot of potential and that could be fulfilled under Gerrard at Rangers this season. Umar Sadiq has bags of pace, power and determination, all vital attributes that will allow him to succeed in football. Roma aren’t prepared now to take a risk as they want proven players in their squad so for Rangers, this is the perfect time to sneak in and grab a bargain.
