الهدف جاء بعد عرضية من لامين يامال، لتصل إلى أولمو، الذي يراوغ في منطقة جزاء لاس بالماس ويسدد الكرة لتصطدم بالعارضة قبل أن تهز الشباك.

وشهدت الدقيقة 81 مطالبات من جانب لاس بالماس باحتساب ضربة جزاء، بداعِ وجود لمسة يد على إريك جارسيا، وسط رفض من جانب الحكم الذي أشهر بطاقة صفراء للاعب ألكس سواريز للاحتجاج.

وتدخلت تقنية الفيديو حيث توجه الحكم لمراجعة الموقف، قبل أن يقرر عدم احتساب ضربة جزاء لوجود تسلل منذ البداية.

وقضى برشلونة على آمال لاس بالماس بعدما سجل البديل فيران توريس الهدف الثاني، في الدقيقة 95، بعد تمريرة من رافينها، وصلت إلى الإسباني الذي سددها بقوة حيث اصطدمت بالعارضة قبل أن تهز الشباك.

United will also be looking at future business in January and next summer, and they appear to have eyes on a Premier League player.

Dunk certainly represents a surprise target, with the report stating as much, with his career at the opposite end of the spectrum to the players INEOS have signed so far, but he could be a shrewd signing for United.

Granted, they would find it hard to offer him regular minutes once Leny Yoro is fit and Matthijs de Ligt looks at his sharpest – Lisandro Martinez is surely the first centre-back on Ten Hag's team sheet, too – but he now has a wealth of experience and could jump at the chance to play for a huge club before it is too late.

Meanwhile, Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler has heaped praise on his captain at the Amex Stadium, having responded impressively to making a mistake at Arsenal last weekend: "He knows it was not the best defending but for me a leader is how you react. Every player on the pitch makes a mistake. To react like this, still asking for the ball, still playing like the assist for the draw for us, it is amazing how he reacted to this mistake."

It is easy to see why United fans may not overly love this transfer rumour, given Dunk's advancing years, but he could be an upgrade on Harry Maguire and prove to be an excellent squad option for a few years.

Aston Villa have no time to rest now after their breathless 3-2 win over Everton last time out in the Premier League, as Champions League football finally gets underway for Unai Emery’s excited camp on Tuesday night.

Emery would have loved the passion and drive from his team that saw them pick up a comeback win against Sean Dyche’s Toffees, hopeful that this resilience to dig deep and pick up dramatic results stands them in good stead for the esteemed tournament.

The former Arsenal manager has, of course, managed at this level before, but many of his players have never tasted action when it comes to Europe’s elite competition.

Morgan Rogers could be one of the unlucky few to not make the cut for the starting XI against Young Boys tonight, after a wasteful showing versus Everton last time out.

The former Manchester City youngster could find his spot taken up by a different Villa body in Switzerland, based on his poor display against the Toffees in the attacking midfield area.

In stark contrast, his composed midfield teammate Youri Tielemans would register 126 accurate passes from his staggering 147 touches of the ball, with the Belgian star standing out as a creative spark constantly aiming to cut the Toffees open.

Away from his haphazard passing, Rogers was also weak in asserting himself in duels with only four successful ones managed from 15 attempted.

Tielemans will know his spot in Emery’s XI is concrete, whilst his 22-year-old counterpart will be anxious about his prospects of starting against Young Boys, as Emery assesses now what to do with his lineup if Rogers is given the boot.

Of course, Emery might well keep his faith in Rogers here, who continues to look like a promising gem for Villa who just needs a little more polishing.

The ex-Everton man would help his current employers ultimately win the back-and-forth contest against his former club, as Barkley would tee up another second-half substitute in Jhon Duran to power home a stunning long-range winner.

Alongside that, Barkley was just stylish on the ball whenever a pass came his way, with only one misplaced pass in the contest from 43 attempted.

The former has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Arsenal, meaning Edu Gaspar and co may still decide to sell the Ghanaian, rather than lose him for nothing next summer.

Meanwhile, Ramsdale has been subject to an approach from Dutch giants Ajax, according to The Athletic. While the proposal was rejected, it is believed Ajax are still optimistic they can strike a deal for the 26-year-old, even if Arsenal want rid of him permanently.

In any case, Ramsdale has been widely tipped to leave Arsenal, with journalist Charles Watts recently claiming he's destined to depart the club.

"It’s a matter of when Ramsdale leaves, not if," said Watts to CaughtOffside.

“The key thing for Arsenal is getting value for money. I saw an initial fee of £15 million mentioned in reports last week and that is quite frankly ridiculous. Arsenal signed Ramsdale for nearly £30m two years ago and he has developed into a far better keeper since then.

Full-back does need to be looked at as an important position to bring in reinforcements, even though Luke Shaw remains an excellent option when he is fit and firing on the left-hand side. The problem is, the Englishman struggles to stay fit too often these days, and turns 30 next year, so it is important that a top-quality successor is lined up.

The £130,000-a-week Mazraoui could provide cover at left-back, although he is primarily a right-back, having made 55 appearances for Bayern, showing that he can perform for one of the biggest clubs in Europe. That means he shouldn't be daunted by joining United, and could slot straight in, and former manager Julian Nagelsmann has lauded him in the past, saying:

"Terrific! He had good attacking moments but also defended well. He has done exceptionally well and has more confidence in himself. He will start tomorrow and can show what he's capable of."

The Blues finally appointed a new manager to replace Tony Mowbray earlier this month, with Chris Davies leaving his role as Tottenham Hotspur assistant to take the St Andrews vacancy. Talking to the media after joining, Davies has said:

A newly relegated Birmingham, backed by Tom Wagner and Tom Brady's Knighthead Group, will be looking to win promotion out of League One at the first time of asking. To do that, new signings could be targeted ahead of Davies’ first campaign as a senior manager, and by the looks of it, the club are looking to make their mark in the transfer window.

Birmingham “leading” Marc Leonard transfer race

According to Romano, Birmingham are one of three clubs “leading” the race to sign Brighton & Hove Albion’s Marc Leonard. The Blues are joined by Championship side Oxford United and new League One rivals Wrexham for Leonard, who is likely to cost in excess of £300,000 when add-ons are factored in.

The 22-year-old made the move to Brighton from Hearts as a teenager back in 2018, initially turning out in their U18 team before progressing to the U23s and has gone on to turn out twice for the Seagulls’ first team.

Leonard has also had two separate loan spells with Northampton Town, making 97 senior appearances for the club in total, scoring six times and registering seven assists. He won Northampton’s Player of the Season for the 2023/24 campaign, collecting 80% of the vote, while also picking up the Players' Player of the Season award.

His long-term future could now be away from Brighton following an impressive loan spell with Northampton, and by the looks of it, Birmingham are pushing to bring him to the Midlands and potentially make him a key part of their plans under Davies.
